How virtual reality will affect the future of gaming

The gaming industry is growing at an exponential rate. The industry is expected to be worth over $200billion by 2021.  This growth can’t be credited to gaming titles alone. New gaming console and additional accessories are enhancing the gameplay and changing player experience. This is where VR comes into the frame. It has already sparked interest in many players. So, let discuss in detail what exactly is VR, and how will it affect the future of gaming?

What is Virtual Reality?

VR isn’t a new concept; the idea is around for a long time since the 1950s. Ever since then, developers wanted to use VR in game development. It looks like that dream isn’t far-off. With many gaming studios hinting the use of VR in future games. This could mean VR powered Mobile Games Online as well.

Using VR in games, players could enter the gaming world while still being in their room. You would be able to interact with the world inside the game, whether it is a dystopian world, medieval city, or a shop in New York. VR has been used to simulate situations in a learning capacity example Flying schools, driving lessons, and even military exercises.

With the release of Oculus Rift, a headset that completely surrounds the wearer views and makes him feel in the world. But it isn’t compatible with most free games to play now, primarily online.

How Virtual Reality Will Affect the Future of Gaming?

The current implementation of VR isn’t user-friendly. Players have to make a lot of compromises in exchange for the 360° immersive gameplay. In Present condition, VR has attracted many players towards gaming, and it has tempted companies to invest in it. All these are signs of VR becoming a mainstream platform in gaming.

However, this would take a lot of time. As VR would be expensive than a gaming console. Even existing games would have to be remastered in order to have smooth graphics in VR headset. All this will cost money and expensive games. But VR is too good a technology to die in the gaming industry. In our opinion, it will develop its own core audience — players dedicated to buy the expensive gadget in return of the immersive gameplay.

The VR can be seen as the Nintendo Wii of the previous generation. With its advanced gameplay such as gun control, Nintendo Wii was set to rule the gaming industry but didn’t grab the opportunity. VR is in the same position with a position to rule the gaming experience. But it has to improve a lot especially in 1st person shooter where the gameplay isn’t enhanced as much as in other genres. Such game details can eventually be the downfall of VR.

But, we are betting VR to cross this hurdle seen its success in other fields. Sooner or later everyone would be enjoying medieval Italy or early wildlife in their bedroom.
