Let’s get it out of the way first thing: staying at hotels near airports isn’t possible for every traveler for a number of reasons. For one thing, the airport could be located somewhere too far from a city center that it becomes impractical—think Narita Airport in Japan or Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. For another, you may be going to a place like a remote beach where there simply aren’t any airports nearby. However, when it’s possible, say you’re traveling for business to Metro Manila in the Philippines, you may want to check in at cheap hotels near NAIA. Why? Here are a few reasons.
You Can Rest ASAP
A four- or five-hour flight can be tiring. A 16- or a 20-hour flight can be downright exhausting. Staying in a hotel near an airport means that you don’t have to travel for more hours to check-in, kick your shoes off, and relax. It doesn’t even matter what time you arrive. If you land in the morning or afternoon, you can take a quick break and do some sightseeing or dine out in the evening. If your flight arrives at night, you can rest and get an early start the next day.
You Can Save a Lot of Time…
Staying at a hotel located near an airport means you don’t have to worry too much about transportation. At the very least, there would always be taxis or buses nearby. This means you can easily reach your destination, whether it’s for business or pleasure. The hotel may even have a complimentary pick-up and drop-off service for you if you book early enough or if you opt for a slightly higher offer.
Another big benefit of staying in a hotel near an airport is that when it comes the time to leave, there’s no need to rush. You can sleep in, enjoy your meal, and have more time to prepare everything you need to prepare before you leave. You don’t have to allocate extra time to deal with heavy traffic and worry about making it to your flight on time. In fact, there are some hotels that are directly connected to airports via covered walkways so you don’t even have to wait for transportation.
… and Money
Hotels near airports usually have lower rates, since they have to compete with other hotels located nearer the city. This is true even for more well-known premier chains. However, it’s still best to check all the amenities available before you book. Some smaller hotels may not have a swimming pool, for example, but will still have a fitness gym or an in-house spa. If you can do away with some services, then book away. Your wallet will surely thank you.
As earlier mentioned, staying at a hotel near an airport means you also have access to public transportation like buses, taxis, and trains. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants, recreation options, and shopping establishments nearby. You’re also assured of excellent reception and service for your communications needs like emailing, calling, and social media.
One downside you might think about when staying at hotels located near airports is the noise. Planes get quite loud when taking off and landing, after all. But don’t you think these hotels’ owners and managers know this already? Hotels near airports, especially more upscale ones, usually have some manner of soundproofing done to the walls and windows to ensure the comfort and convenience of their guests. Do remember that not all hotels may have this feature and that if you’re a little farther away from the airport, then it may not be necessary. Let’s face it, though—soundproof walls are a great bonus, especially if the hotel frequently has a lot of guests.
Again, it’s important to point out that there are times when you can’t stay at a hotel near an airport. If it’s possible, however, consider the benefits of staying near the airport. It may even become your go-to option for many of your travels.
